Vice president Naseem told the ambassador that Maldives wants Sri Lanka’s assistance

Vice President Faisal Naseem has spoken with Sri Lankan ambassador A.B. Thoradeniya about developing cricket in the Maldives.

In a meeting at the President’s Office on Monday, vice president Naseem told the ambassador that Maldives wants Sri Lanka’s assistance in this regard.

The Maldivian national cricket team has competed eight times in the Asian Cricket Council’s ‘ACC Trophy’, emerging third place in 2009 and winning the 2010 competition.

The current government has announced intend to develop all fields of sports in the Maldives, and has pledged to allocate funds to all sports associations, and appoint a sports councilor in all islands.
