Maldives Police Service (MPS) is investigating threats against the chief judge at the High Court.
Police on Friday revealed that an investigation was launched after a letter from the court, informing of a death threat against Judge Shujau Usman.
However, they did not disclose any further details on the matter.
RaajjeMV understands that the High Court chief judge received the death threat while on holiday in Maafushi island.
Usman was appointed to the High Court bench in 2015, and was elected as its chief last year. He previously served at the Criminal Court.
In a statement released on Saturday, the court "strongly" condemned the threat made against the chief judge, and appealed to the police and other relevant bodies to ensure action against those responsible.
The court added that any such acts intending harm to others "is not unacceptable."
