The People’s Majlis has signed an MoU with the lower house of the Indian parliament.

The agreement was signed with Lok Sabha “to strengthen the relationship and provide training opportunities for Majlis secretariat staff."

A high-level parliamentary delegation, including Speaker and former President Mohamed Nasheed and Deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla, traveled to the neighboring nation on Sunday.

The delegation visited the memorial dedicated to Indian civil rights activist and freedom fighter, Mahatma Gandhi, earlier on Monday.

The speaker wrote on the memorial book at the site, which was shared by the People’s Majlis.

Nasheed writes, “Gandiji is undoubtedly the biggest inspiration of everything during our times. Gandiji’s principles, philosophy and actions inspired freedom lovers the world over, in our region and certainly in the Maldives.”

The delegation, expected to conclude their visit on December 13, visited the Indian parliament and called on the country’s Speaker Shri Om Birla on Monday.
