Charges have been raised against the national cricket team coach, for sexually abusing the players including minors.
The Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office said that nine charges have been raised against Asif Khan.
The 46-year-old South African citizen was detained over allegations of sexual assault abuse in October, while attempting to flee the country.
While Khan was arrested under a court order shortly after, he was released by the Criminal Court after the police failed to present him for his remand hearing with the required 24 hours. He was re-arrested in November, following an order from the High Court.
The Criminal Court had denied the police’s request for warrant to re-arrest him, and the matter was appealed at the High Court by the PG Office.
The cricket board has been subjected to scrutiny since the news broke, with allegations that the board had attempted to cover up the coach's crimes and send him off in a rush.
