The Maldives' women’s national volleyball team has lost to India in the South Asian Games 2019 ongoing in Kathmandu, Nepal on Saturday.
The Maldivian team lost the semi-final match in three straight sets.
Although the Maldives took the lead in the first set, India turned it around and beat them with a score of 25-14.
In the second set, the Maldivian team made many mistakes and lost to India by 25-6.
India won the third set as well with a score of 25-17 despite the Maldivian team putting up a strong fight.
The Maldives women's national volleyball team is set to participate in the tournaments third place playoff.
Their opponent will be determined after the match between Nepal and Srilanka scheduled for Saturday night.
The Maldivian team advanced to the semi-finals after Pool B was reduced to two teams following Pakistan’s decision to pull out of the tournament.
The women’s team were the runner-ups in the AVC Senior Women’s Central Zone Volleyball Championship, held earlier this month; its biggest achievement to date.
