The Maldives Athletics team has departed to India for a special training session.
Consisting of 10 athletes, the team is training for the upcoming Asian Championship.
While there are 10 athletes in the national team, only five will get the opportunity to compete in the championship.
However, the Athletics Association has assured that it will do their best to provide the opportunity to all athletes who pass their designated qualifying timing.
Association President Mohamed Tholal said that they will hold the necessary discussions with the Asian Athletics Federation.
The team left for India on Friday, in order to take part in the special training session organized by India. Prior to departing, the team met with the Indian Ambassador to the Maldives, Akhilesh Mishra, who told them that India will be helping the team.
The Asian Championship will be held in Bangalore, India, from June 6 to June 9.
