South Asian Junior and Cadet Championship is being held from 20th to 22nd April

South Asian Junior and Cadet Championship is being held in the Maldives for the first time. The three-day long tournament will continue from 20th to 22nd April.

Five countries from South Asia are participating in what is known as the most competitive table tennis tournament for junior atheletes in the region. The countries include Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Maldives.

While atheletes under the age of 18 played for the junior category, under 15 players performed in the cadet category. And children under the age of 12 performed in the newly introduced 'hopes' category.

Maldivian table tennis players have been training for the tournament since February of this year since they participate in all the categories. 

General Secretary of Table Tennis Association of Maldives (TTAM), Ismail Sujau told RaajjeMV that the matches have been extremely competitive so far and added that Maldivian players have performed well in the past matches. Sujau also said that the amount of spectators who visit to watch the Maldivian national table tennis team has increased and that TTAM is proud of the players' performances so far. 

The final matches will be held tomorrow, as reported by TTAM.
