Maldives Meteorological Service has cautioned the public to be wary of adverse conditions they predict to prevail across the country for the next 24 hours.
The MET department predicted rain showers to prevail over most of the country with thundershowers in some regions.
Further, the service revealed that surface winds will gust at a speed of 7 to 17 miles per hour with winds gusting 40 miles per hour during showers.
While seas are expected to be moderate, becoming rough at times during showers, the department advised the public to take necessary precautions for the conditions.
In addition, the service has issued a yellow alert from Noonu to Vaavu atolls from 0915am to 0115pm on Saturday. Another white alert was issued earlier from 0915am to 0315pm from Haa Alifu Atoll to Shaviynai and from Meemu atoll to southernmost Addu City.
Rain showers have been pouring over capital city Malé and most parts of Maldives for the past few days, causing heavy floods in the most flood-prone regions of the capital due to underdevelopment.
The city council maintains that work is underway to develop the roads of the capital city.
