Foreign Minister Shahid in Finland; set to sign air transport agreement
Shahid arrived in Finland on Wednesday, and was received by the Finnish ambassador to Maldives Harri Kämäräinen
He is to meet with his Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto and Education Minister Li Andersson
The foreign minister will also sign an Air Services Agreement

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has traveled to Finland after concluding visit to Saudi Arabia.

Shahid arrived in Finland on Wednesday, and was received by the Finnish ambassador to Maldives Harri Kämäräinen.

He is to meet with his Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto and Education Minister Li Andersson during the visit, and discuss on exploring avenues to expand the existing bilateral relations between both countries.

The minister will also meet with Finland’s business community “to reinforce trade ties between the two countries.”

The foreign minister will also sign an Air Services Agreement, which will allow international commercial air transport services between Maldives and Finland and enhance “the people to people contact as well as the broader economic cooperation between both countries.”

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Maldives’ Non-Resident Ambassador to Finland Ahmed Latheef, Minister of State for Economic Development Mohamed Iaad Hameed and Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shiuneen Rasheed are accompanying Shahid on the trip.

Shahid was in Saudi Arabia to attend the opening ceremony of Commemoration of the OIC’s Golden Jubilee, which was held this Monday.
