Saudi Arabia’s cabinet has approved a memorandum of understanding signed with the Maldives, to cooperate in the health sector.
The MoU was signed in March this year, between the respective health ministers.
As per the agreement, Saudi Arabia will provide health resources and equipment to Maldives and assist in the development of health centers.
While Saudi cabinet gave the approval during a meeting on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid met with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud earlier in the week; the minister is currently in Saudi Arabia on an official visit.
During the meeting, Shahid reaffirmed Maldives’ commitment “to further strengthen bilateral relations with the brotherly people and Government of Saudi Arabia.”
The minister traveled to Jeddah to attend the opening ceremony of Commemoration of the OIC’s Golden Jubilee, which was held this Monday.
During the trip, the foreign minister also signed the Statute of the OIC Women’s Development Organization, which the People’s Majlis endorsed in September.
