Walls of Maaungoodhoo island in Shaviyani atoll has been spray-painted with the flag of terrorist organisation, officially known as the Islamic State (IS).
Authorities are investigating the matter following reports of vandalism using the official IS logo on Saturday night.
The Secretariat of the Maaungoodhoo Council revealed to RaajjeMV, that four people arrived on a sea-cucumber fishing boat and allegedly vandalized the island before leaving around midnight.
According to the council, a shopkeeper from the island confirmed that four outsiders purchased spray paint from the store but there were no witnesses to the vandalism.
The case is currently under investigation by the authorities.
