The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) campaign office in Dhuvaafaru island in Raa atoll has been vandalized.

The campaign team on the island said that used engine oil had been splattered onto the front walls and entrance. The official that spoke to RaajjeMV said he believes it had been done at midnight.

MDP has, especially with the election of its new chair Hassan Latheef, galvanized their efforts for the elections, now set for May citing the flu outbreak in the Maldives in March.

The party has also raised concerns about the potential lack of transparency of the ballots.
