The President’s Office has publicized the inquiry commission’s report on the murder of parliamentarian, Dr. Afrasheem Ali.
While the report was forwarded to the President’s Office earlier this month, it has since been shared with all relevant institutions.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih formed the Commission on Murders and Enforced Disappearances a year ago, on his first day in office. It has been tasked to investigate over 20 deaths and disappearance, including the former Ungoofaaru constituency MP’s 2012 murder.
The report was publicized on Sunday, as the government marks one year in office.
Dr. Afrasheem was stabbed to death in the stairwell of his house in the capital city, in October 2012.
Two were charged over his murder, and Hussain Humaam was convicted and sentenced to death after a dubious trial.
While the report was publicized on Sunday, local media outlets have been reporting on its finding since last Thursday.
