Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed has stated that the incumbent administration doesn't discriminate based on political affiliation or beliefs.

While speaking on RaajjeTV's "Fala Suruhee" programމެ, the minister stated that the administration has established "good governance" and transparency as they reach the administrations one year mile-stone on Sunday. He also added that there has been no discrimination towards the businesses of the opposition and that there has been no obstacles to the opposition's freedom of speech.

Moreover, the minister noted that the biggest achievement of the past year in power has been the peace and harmony brought to the country. He added that this change came at a time of rampant corruption, looting of the state coffers, and almost non-existent human rights and basic freedom.

Referring to the ministry's activities during the past year, the minister noted that the ministry has been vigilant about transparency in its activities, following the public distrust and other negative impacts to the ministry of tourism and its associated businesses due to the MMPRC graft case.

I would like to highlight that the accusations from the public has come to a halt in the past year. I believe that is an achievement. The citizens main concern has been to protect the state coffers, which we have guaranteed this past year. The tourism ministry has met with media at least once a month. We have established good governance and transparency. Neither have we hindered any businesses because of the owners political beliefs, nor has a million dollars been transferred to the president's personal bank account.

The minister further asserted that the citizens will soon observe visible changes as the administration makes progress in fulfilling the promises listed in the coalition manifesto by the Maldivian Democratic Party.

Furthermore, he stated that the critics claiming the government is slow in taking action will change their opinion before March next year.
