State-run veterinary clinic to resume services on Sunday

The Villimalé vet clinic, the country’s first-ever one, was opened in January this year

The veterinary center, opened in Villimalé earlier this year, will resume services on Sunday.

Minster of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, Zaha Waheed announced this during an interview on RaajjeTV’s “Fala Surukhee” programme on Thursday night.

The minister said that services at the clinic had been halted due to a change in the veterinarians, adding that it has been received well by the public.

She noted that providing these services is not in the ministry’s mandate, and encouraged the opening of a private veterinary clinic adding that it “will provide great income.”

Noting that 997 individuals have brought in animals thus far, Zaha said that there are not obstacles to opening a private clinic.

The services will resume as before, four days a week. Consultations from 8am to 2pm on Sundays and Wednesday, while surgeries will be carried out from 8am to 2pm on Mondays and Thursdays.

Appointments can be made by submitting a request from to the ministry.
