Cannot attend questioning over fear for personal safety: Dr. Azra
She is wanted for questioning in the investigation into the controversial report by MDN, published in 2016

Dr. Azra Naseem, wanted for questioning in the investigation into Maldivian Democracy Network (MDN)’s ‘Preliminary Report on Radicalization in Maldives’ report, has informed the Maldives Police Service (MPS) that she is unable to attend questioning citing fear for her personal safety.

According to the MPS, only Azra answered the summon sent to both Azra and Shahindha Ismail, the founder of MDN.

They further note that the summon has not expired yet and that there is still time for a response.

Both Azra and Shahindha have resided abroad even prior to the public backlash and consequent police investigation of the MDN report.

Both authors involved in the MDN report were issued a public summons on the 24th of October and given a deadline of two weeks to respond which will expire on Wednesday.
