A Bangladeshi national has been arrested and remanded for attempting sexual assault on a minor in a central atoll.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) confirmed that the 34-year-old man has been remanded by 10 days.

MPS received the report of a Bangladeshi man having sexually assaulted a girl under 15 years of age on 31 October.

The man is residing in the Maldives illegally, police cited the Immigration.

Further investigations have launched into the case.
