Discussions have been held between the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) and Ministry of Education to promote football in the education sector.
During a meeting at the ministry premises on Wednesday, President of the association, Bassam Adeel Jaleel met with the Minister of Education, Aishath Ali.
Taking to Twitter following the “promising” meeting, Bassam wrote that they discussed hosting inter-school tournaments across the outlying atolls as well as appointing coaches to schools alongside providing sports equipment.
Further, the pair discussed school placements for children who will be selected to the Football School being constructed in Hulhumalé under the association’s “towards future” initiative. The work is set to complete by February 2020, revealed FAM.
Under the slogan, “towards future”, FAM is observably putting in a lot of commendable efforts to promote the sport in the country, some of which include the enrollment of young Maldivian teams in international tournaments.
Under the program, several changes will also be brought to the National Football Team, said the team’s Chairman Ali Waheed.
It has also been reported that FAM has actively begun work to establish the association’s new office premises, this year.
