Man caught attempting to smuggle drugs into Maamigili

The 25-year-old man was caught during an operation on October 28th at 05:50 pm

A man has been caught attempting to smuggle drugs through Maamigili airport, during an operation against drug trafficking lead by the Adh. Maamigili police station.

The 25-year-old man was caught during an operation at around 05:50pm on Tuesday after the Maldives Police Service (MPS) received reports of a potential drug trafficking attempt through the airport.

Upon searching the man, a film canister was found filled with a substance suspected to be drugs.

Adh. Maamigili magistrate court has remanded the suspect for ten days to be held in a location determined by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The case is currently undergoing further investigation.
