Launch of mini-bus delayed due to financial issues: Minister
the transport ministry has completed all the work for the mini-buses required on the ministry’s end
work will resume around January or February, next year.

The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Aishath Nahula, stated that the introduction of mini-bus services is being delayed due to a lack of funds.

While speaking on RaajjeTV’s “Fashaairu” programme on Tuesday, the minister disclosed that the transport ministry has completed all the work for the mini-buses required on the ministry’s end and handed the project over to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). She added that the project is stalled at MTCC due to a lack of funds for the project.

According to the minister, the introduction of mini-buses is expected to be costly, but every effort is being put into securing the funds for the project. She further added that she hopes the work will resume around January or February, next year.

There are things we need to check for on every bus, like the size of the bus, the number and the size of seats. We assigned that work to MTCC. However, the work is stalled at MTCC due to a lack of funds. Work is expected to resume after sufficient funds are secured. There is no work left to be done on the ministry's end. We have completed all our work.
The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Aishath Nahula

The introduction of mini-buses is one of the current administrations' 100-day pledges.
