deadline postponed to give opportunities for more applicants.

The contest to design a national memorial in the memory of the Maldivians who sacrificed their lives for the nation on the 3rd of November 1989, has its deadline extended to give opportunities for more applicants.

According to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), the deadline for the memorial design contest was postponed to give more people the opportunity to participate in the competition and allow participants more time to finish their design.

In order to enter the contest, participants must be a Maldivian national, have no criminal records, and if they win, must agree to commit their time to develop the memorial with the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).

They must also present their design on an A1 sized foam-board as well as in PDF format. Furthermore, drawings and details of the memorial design must have a maximum of ten A3 size pages bind together. Participants also have to present the design in Microsoft Word format in a CD. Furthermore, MNDF instructs participants to submit their design to the defense ministry without labeling the submission with the participant's details. Nevertheless, the participant must submit their curriculum vitae and ID card copy in a separate envelope.

The deadline for the contest was previously the 24th of October. MNDF stated that the new deadline will be announced at a later date.
