The design and Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) of causeways connecting five islands in Laamu atoll was contracted to a private company on Thursday.
Foresight Surveyors Private Limited was contracted by the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure to design and compile EIAs of three causeways. The contract was signed by Director General Shaana Farooq from the ministry and Managing Director Ahmed Nuaim from Foresight Surveyors.

Gan constituency MP Mohamed Wisam took to twitter following the signing, writing that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will conclusively fulfill pledges made to residents of Laamu atoll.
The work was contracted for a total of MVR 388,916.
Causeways will be constructed between Hithadhoo and Mendhoo, Maamendhoo and Kunahandhoo and Kalaidhoo and Dhanbidhoo under the project.
The development of the causeway is yet to be assigned.
