Six officers receive commissions after completing Officer Candidate Training abroad
Their rank insignia were pinned by their family members

Six military officers have received commissions after completing Officer Candidate Training abroad.
In a special ceremony held on Tuesday night at the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Headquarters, the six officers were awarded their certificates and commission by Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi whereas their rank insignia were pinned by their family members.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi addressed the commissioned officers, reminding them of their duty to the country, and the responsibility given to them by the law.
While highlighting the administration’s efforts to improve officer competency, the minister stated that the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, has given utmost priority to sustainably improving military recruitment and welfare.
The six commissioned officers include officers that received their training from America and India.
The officers that completed the “officer candidate school” training from America’s US Army Infantry School are Leftenant Ismail Ahmed and Leftenant Ibrahim Ali.
The officers that received “Short Service Commission Course” training from the Officer Training Academy at Cochin, India are leftenant Abdulla Fiyaz, leftenant Thayibba Ibrahim, leftenant Ahmed Shizan and leftenant Niuma Abdul Rahman.
In addition to the Defense Minister, Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal and Vice Chief of Defence Force Brigadier General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef were in attendance at the ceremony, alongside General Officers, Unit Commanders, and the families of the commissioned officers.
