Weather conditions improving in Addu City
A total of seven families were provided temporary shelter, out of which five families have been able to return home.

Addu City council mayor, Abdulla Sodhiq, has stated that the general weather conditions in Addu city have improved.

Around 50 houses in the southernmost city were heavily affected by floods caused by the recurrent rain caused by the monsoon season prevailing over the country in the past few days

While seven families were provided temporary shelter, Sodhiq told RaajjeMV that five of the families have since moved back to their homes.

He stated that the weather has improved in Addu city.

Addu City has experienced heavy rainfall for the past two days, resulting in flooding and subsequently causing damage to homes.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) and Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has provided relief effort to a hundred and forty homes damaged by the flood.

Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi visited the homes of some of the families affected by the flood to assess the damage on Sunday.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has also looked into the general conditions of Addu City as well.

According to the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET), a white alert was issued for the region between Gdh. atoll and Addu atoll from 09:00 to 15:00 on Monday due to worsening weather conditions.

Additionally, MET office predicts heavy rainfall in the southern atolls, and thunderstorms in the central and southern atolls.
