Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched an investigation into a kidnapping case of a Bangladeshi worker.

Police said that a kidnapping case was reported at around 2:45pm on Sunday, and that the victim was able to free himself from the kidnappers the next day.

The 34-year-old has since turned up at the police headquarters and recounted his experience.

Police is to make any arrests in the case.
