Maldives Customs Service is seeking criminal charges against a senior official, after dismissing him over corruption allegations.
The service’s media official Fathmath Shifaza confirmed this to RaajjeMV, saying that an employee had been fired over corruption allegations “last week.”
She added that they have decided to send the case for prosecution, after investigations.
However, Shifaza did not disclose any further details in the case including the identity or post of the employee.
The current administration assures zero tolerance on corruption, and had launched a campaign back in February.
Furthermore, in order to protect those that provide information related to corruption, the government is working to introduce a bill protecting whistleblowers.
