Companies tasked with designing water and sewerage systems, EIA in 36 islands

Private companies Foresight Surveyors and Epoch in association with India's Leading Integrated Infrastructure Services Company, Feedback Infra, have been tasked with surveying water and sewerage system installation, designing and Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) in 36 islands.

The Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure tasked the two companies where both companies Director Muaviyath Abdul Sattar signed on behalf of the companies and Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed signed on behalf of the government.

Designing water and sewerage systems in Naalaafushi and Raiymandhoo, Meemu atoll, Rakeedhoo and Keyodhoo in Vaavu atoll and Dhiyamigili and Madifushi in Thaa atoll was contracted for MVR 3,598,920.

The same project was tasked for MVR 3,229,800 in Dhevvadhoo and Nilandhoo in Gaaf Alif, Nadella in Gaaf Dhaal and Hithadhoo and Kunahandhoo in Laamu atoll.

Further, the projects in Himandhoo, Mathiveri, Dhihdhoo and Feridhoo in Alif Alif atoll, Kunburudhoo, Fenfushi and Omadhoo in Alif Dhaal atoll are contracted for MVR 3,552,780.

The ministry went on to reveal that MVR 3,322,080 has been allocated for the same projects in Olhuvelifushi in Lhaviyani atoll, Fainu and Innamaadhoo in Raa atoll, Kamadhoo and Maalhos in Baa atoll, and Himmafushi in Kaafu atoll.

Other islands in which the work will be carried out as per the agreement signed for MVR 4,752,420 include Goidhoo and Feevah in Shaviyani atoll and Henbadhoo and Manadhoo in Noonu atoll.

MVR 3,598,920 has been allocated for the water and sewerage system designing in Kumundhoo and Hirimaradhoo in Haa Dhaal atoll, Vashafaru, Maarandhoo, Muraidhoo and Thakandhoo in Haa Alif atoll.

While installing water and sewerage systems across the entirety of the nation is one of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s pledges, the companies have been tasked with completing the work within six months of commencing.
