Government signs MVR 148 mln project to develop water and sewer systems
The Indian joint venture, Triveni JV has been assigned to develop said systems in Naifaru island of Lhaviyani atoll and Vaamendhoo of Thaa atoll

The Environment Ministry has appointed a project of over MVR 148 million to develop water and sewer systems in wo islands.

The Indian joint venture, Triveni JV has been assigned to develop said systems in Naifaru island of Lhaviyani atoll and Vaamendhoo of Thaa atoll.

The contract was signed between Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim and Trveni’s Managing Director Viney Kumar.

The company will construct sewerage treatment and water plants in Naifaru while constructing the plants in Vaamendhoo as well as administrative offices to oversee water and sewer management.

This project is primarily funded by loans from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and OPEC. The project is to be concluded within 18 months.
