Criminal Court has re-opened after ridding the building of termites.

The court cancelled all hearings and closed on Sunday due to the termite infestation.

During that time, the court had issued remands at the Justice Building.

This comes after the Judicial Service Commission (JSC)’s report highlighted the immense backlog of unfinished work at the Criminal Court.

JSC stated that there are 12 cases that are more than 10 years old and recommended that more judges be transferred to the Criminal Court to speed up its work.
