Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has revealed that the Bangladeshi national being treated in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for severe injuries after a gas cylinder explosion, is now in stable condition.
The hospital’s media official revealed that initially, eight individuals were brought to the hospital for treatment out of which six were admitted for further treatment.
While some have since been discharged, three including the one who attained severe injuries are still being treated at the hospital.
A gas cylinder on-board “Best Line” boat docked at North Harbor exploded on 11 September, injuring five Maldivians and two Bangladeshis, all male.
Police investigations revealed that the gas cylinders on-board were compressed under the weight of cargo items that were loaded onto the boat.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) began investigations into the case the same day of the explosion.
