Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) officers have reeled a speedboat sinking off of Kaashidhoo sea, back to safety.

The boat was reeled back to safety into Kaashidhoo island, with the help of the sea ambulance.

MNDF received report of the sinking speedboat close to 6pm on Saturday and the coast guard was dispatched immediately.

The speedboat was en-route to capital city Malé from Hinnavaru in Lhaviyani atoll with 20 people on-board.

It was travelling seven nautical miles north off Kaashidhoo.
