Maldives’ World Tourism Day activities will increase youth interest in the tourism sector, says Tourism Ministry’s Policy Executive Director Abdulla Mohamed.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s Fala Surukhee show, Abdulla Mohamed said that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s government has been working to expand Maldives’ tourism industry.

Abdulla Mohamed said that the government’s World Tourism Day activities hope to increase the number of young people working in the tourism sector.

Highlighting the increasing job opportunities this year because of the opening of new resorts, he said that the planned activities on World Tourism Day will allow young people to see these opportunities.

He also said that the government is working to solve the issues faced by workers in the tourism sector and the problems in taking service charge, adding that they are ready to hold discussions with senior resort managers during the dinner night on World Tourism Day.

The Ministry is set to begin World Tourism Day celebration in Vaavu atoll on September 27.
