The Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure has contracted several development projects to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

Director Fathmath Shana Farooq signed on behalf of the government and MTCC’s CEO Hassan Shah signed on behalf of MTCC for two of the projects.

MTCC was contracted the construction of harbors and shore protection in a total of three islands, Felidhoo in Vaavu atoll, Rasdhoo in Alif Alif atoll and Dhoonidhoo, Kaafu atoll.

The project of harbor expansion in Felidhoo Is expected to cost MVR 18,508,697 and has been contracted to be completed within 210 days.

The coastal protection project in Rasdhoo was funded by the Indian Grant Assistance, revealed MTCC, adding that the project is estimated to cost MVR 7,998,302 and is to be completed within 110 days.

Further, MTCC is expected to complete the projects in Dhoonidhoo for a cost of MVR 51,477,222. The projects are harbor extension and shore protection.

As part of the project, MTCC is to reclaim 3.75 hectares of land, construct a 193-meter-long breakwater, dredge 4.61 hectares of land, add a 167-meter-long breakwater with one more 9.5-meter-long breakwater along with a 250-meter quay wall and a 620-meter-long revetment core.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed signed the contract for development projects in Dhoonidhoo on behalf of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and CEO Hassan Shah, signed on behalf of MTCC.
