The independent institutions committee has decided to re-send the motion to dismiss the Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom)’s President and Vice President to the parliament floor.

The decision to re-send the motion to the floor was proposed by Inguraidhoo MP Hassan Ahmed, backed by South Thinadhoo MP Abdulla Saneef, and was approved with all present members voting in favor.

The motion to dismiss Broadcom President Mohamed Shaheeb and Vice President Fathimath Zaina was sent back to the independent institutions committee on Tuesday. Speaker Mohamed Nasheed said this decision was made in accordance with the new parliament regulation.

The parliament regulation states that motions to dismiss members of institutions should be heard on the floor and sent to the relevant committees, which should evaluate the motion and send its report to the floor, whereby the MPs will vote on the motion based on the report.
