20 new officers of the Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) have been sworn in on Sunday.

The official swearing-in ceremony was joined by Deputy Commissioner of Prisons, Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, Prison Directors, 60 officers currently in training as well as Commissioner of Prisons, Abdulla Munaz who attended as chief guest.

Speaking at the ceremony, Munaz urged the newly sworn-in officers to uphold their responsibilities dutifully and in honesty. He went on to encourage them to abide by the prisons and parole guidelines and carefully conduct their work through legally mandated ways, responsibly.

Munaz further urged the new officers to ensure the human rights guaranteed to inmates are well-looked-after.

Civil Court Chief Justice Abdulla Ali administered the new officers’ oath.
