Delegates have begun arriving in Maldives for the 4th South Asian Speakers’ Summit.
Six SAARC countries will be joining the South Asian Speakers’ Summit to be held at the old parliament building from September 1 and 2.
Speakers from Afghanistan, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan will be joining this year’s summit, which is on achieving the sustainable development goals.
The arriving speakers are being welcomed by Maldives speaker and former president Mohamed Nasheed, deputy speaker Eva Abdulla, and MPs.
This would be the first time that Maldives is hosting the South Asian Speakers’ Summit.
During the event, speakers will discuss what their parliaments have done to achieve the sustainable development goals in the Colombo Declaration adopted by the South Asian Speakers’ Summit in 2018.
