The Ministry of Finance and Treasury has proposed the supplementary budget to parliament.
While the budget was proposed at Wednesday’s sitting, Minister Ibrahim Ameer had stated that details of the budget will be shared with the public through a press conference.
At the parliamentary budget committee meeting held in November 2018, Minister Ameer had stated that the budget would be proposed for ratification after drafting a “master plan” for national development.
The aim of proposing the budget along with the plan was initially to fulfill the pledges the government made to the people efficiently and in a way that will not reflect on the budget and to plan out the government’s expenses cleverly.
Spokesperson at the President’s Office, Ibrahim Hoodh told RaajjeMV that the budget was proposed to include aid from foreign countries as well as international organizations to carry out development projects.
Parliament had set the state budget at MVR 30.2 billion for 2019.
