Committee to meet with finance minister and heads of independent institutions, next week

The reason for this is due to the various concerns made by the institutions “regarding budgetary issues”

Parliament’s committee on independent institutions will meet with Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer and heads of all independent institutions, next week.

The committee made the decision at a meeting held on Tuesday; the meeting will be held next Wednesday, August 28.

At the meeting, committee chair and Addu-Meedhoo constituency MP Rozaina Adam said that the reason for this is due to the various concerns made by the institutions “regarding budgetary issues”.

Hence, the purpose of this meeting is so that the officials of the institutions can share their concerns directly with the finance minister.

She also highlighted that the importance of having the meeting “before the ministry starts work for next year’s budget.”

MP Rozaina said that the officials will be given the required five days to prepare for the meeting.

The finance ministry is legally obligated to send the upcoming year’s state budget before October 31.
