MMPRC seeks charges against three companies

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has decided to sue three companies, to recover the over MVR 14 million stolen from the state.

This was revealed at the parliament’s public finances committee meeting on Tuesday, where MMPRC officials were questioned.

Speaking there, its current Managing Director Mohamed Thoyyib said that they have forwarded the cases against three companies to recover the MVR 14.67 million that was stolen.

These companies are Millennium Capital Private Limited, Montline International Private Limited and Scores of Flair (SoF).

MMPRC is seeking MVR 10.7 million from SoF, MVR 2.5 million Millennium Capital and MVR 1.47 million from Montline.

While the MMPRC embezzlement is the country’s largest corruption scandal to date, it had received only MVR 12.5 million, of the MVR 77.5 million owed, as island acquisition fees. MVR 5.3 million of this is confirmed to have been deposited to SoF’s account.

SoF is the private company implicated in the MMPRC corruption.
