Ukulhas Council has stated that they will complete the Convention Centre in three days for the Ukulhas Tech Fair.
More than 25 participants will be showcasing the latest technological developments at the event, to be held at the Ukulhas Convention Centre from August 26 – 28.
Ukulhas Tech Fair is set to showcase technologies and developments by researchers and practitioners working in the field of computer science and technology and will also allow the exchange of ideas and the latest developments in tech.
The event’s main sponsor is Ooredoo Maldives, followed by the Ministry of Tourism, Ukulhas Council and Ugail Foundation, with RaajjeTV as the media partner.
Ugail Foundation stated that this would be the first time that such an event will be taking place in Maldives and that it will facilitate further technological developments in the country. The Foundation also stated that former president and current speaker Mohamed Nasheed -who received the United Nations' 'Champions of the Earth' award in 2010- will also be attending the event, and presenting his recently registered 'Maldives Coral Institute'.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, Ukulhas Council President Shaukath Ibrahim said they began preparing for the event last December after Professor Hassan Ugail decided it would be held in the island. He also said that the government approved their plan for the event very quickly, adding that they are in the final stages of preparations and that the convention center will be completed within two to three days.
Scientists and professors from the United Kingdom are set to join the event, and invitations have been sent to cabinet ministers and MPs. The Council President said they have prepared a huge welcome ceremony for them, and that they will have accommodations at the island guesthouses.
