Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim has met with his Indonesian counterpart, Retno Marsudi on Wednesday morning.

The Ministry, via twitter on Wednesday morning, said that FM Asim held 'bilateral talks with his Indonesian counterpart'. No further details were given regarding the meeting.

RaajjeMV understands that the meeting took place at Foreign Affairs office in Central Jakarta.

The Minister departed to Indonesia on June 19, on a two-day official visit.

Foreign Ministry had then said that the Minister will meet with Minister Marsudi and "hold discussions on ways to further strengthening the long existing bilateral relation between both countries".

According to an article posted on Jakarta Globe on Tuesday, the main focus of the trip will be 'tourism'.

Arrmanatha Nasir, spokesperson at Indonesia's Foreign Ministry, had said that "the main focus of the Maldives foreign minister's visit is to strengthen bilateral relations", adding that "cooperation with Maldives- especially in tourism- holds huge potential".

Nasir had also said that the two minister to discuss various issues, including work protection for Indonesian migrant worker in Maldives, as well as recent development in the regional and global stage "including the diplomatic crisis in Qatar and security issues".

Bilateral Secretary at the Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Khaleel and Assistant Director Ahmed Suzil accompanied the Minister of the trip.
