The Inter-Parliamentary Union’s 4th edition of the South Asian Speakers Summit has been scheduled for 1 September.
Former President and current Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed revealed at Monday’s sitting this edition of the Speakers Summit has been scheduled to be hosted in the Maldives.
The meeting will be participated by Maldives and the remaining SAARC member nations and will focus on discussions to achieve development goals.
This is the first time the global organization has decided to host an edition of the South Asian Speakers Summit, in the Maldives.
The summit will proceed on 1 and 2 September.
Local media reports that Nasheed, who will be representing Maldives in the summit, has considered hosting it inside the parliament chambers.
