Following the fire that destroyed the two generators in the Dhanbidhoo island powerhouse, Fenaka Corporation was able to provide electricity to the entire island by early Saturday morning.
The fire incident took place on Friday night, and Fenaka said that electricity had been provided to the Laamu atoll island by 5:45am.
Dhanbidhoo council Vice President Ahmed Shareef told RaajjeMV said that two of the three generators in the island powerhouse had been destroyed in the fire.
He said that electricity is currently being provided through one generator and that there have been a few power outages since as well.
Shareef also praised the government for its assistance, and said that Minister at the President’s Office Mohamed Shifaz had been a big help from the start.
Fenaka is working to send a new engine generator to the island, which is to arrive there on Saturday night.
