Former President of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will be investigated and brought to justice even if he “hides” abroad, says North-Galolhu constituency MP and deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla.

She made the comment at Tuesday’s sitting, during a debate on the emergency motion submitted by Maavah constituency MP and former Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed regarding a leaked audio of the former ACC president alleging that Home Minister Imran Abdulla had threatened him.

MP Eva said that Luthufee is in hiding because he had assisted those involved in the largest case of theft from the state in the country’s history, and assured that this administration “will investigate Luthufee’s case and bring him back to the country and take the necessary action.”

Also at Tuesday’s sitting, Milandhoo constituency MP Ali Riza claimed to have received information that Luthufee and the Maavah constituency are in business together.

Noting that he does not believe that the home minister would act in such a manner, Riza said that Saeed’s emergency motion should not have been accepted, adding that it has given the opportunity to unveil Luthufee’s “theft”.

Home Minister Imran has denied Luthufee’s accusation, saying that he was shocked to learn that certain individuals thought that the Maldivian people would believe that his is foolish enough to do such a thing.
