Parliament is set to question Health Minister Abdulla Ameen and Transport Minister Fathmath Nahula this week.
Secretary General Fathmath Niusha announced this at a press conference on Sunday.
She said that the health minister is to be questioned at Monday’s sitting, while Minister Nahula is summoned for Wednesday.
Maduvvari constituency MP Adam Shareef had proposed to summon Minister Ameen for questioning, over work being done to develop the health centers in Maduvvari and Meedhoo islands.
He has proposed three questions over the work; the progress of the work, whether the finance for the year has been secured and when the work will be completed and services will begin.
While the transport minister is to be questioned on Wednesday, Kaashidhoo constituency MP Abdulla Jabir had proposed to question her, regarding parking violation stickers being issued without providing a solution to the capital’s parking space issue.
The People’s Majlis has the power to “summon any person to appear before it to give evidence under oath, or to produce documents. Any person who is questioned by the People’s Majlis shall answer to the best of his knowledge and ability.” The ministers are given a 14-day notice to prepare for the questions.
Last week, parliament decided to give a five-day notice to government officials that are summoned to committees.
