State Trading Organization (STO) has improved its method to make medicine for cancer treatment readily available in Maldives.
STO announced this at the Onco-Spectra 2019 Symposium on Sunday.
Indian pharmaceutical company Dr.Reddy's agreed to provide medicine for cancer treatment for cheap prices. Maldivian cancer patients will receive the medicine for free via Aasandha.
STO initiated this new service with the help of Aasandha and Maldives Cancer Society.
Speaking to the media, Maldives’ first oncologist Dr Mohamed Shifan said that this is a vast improvement for cancer treatment in the country, highlighting the difficulties in receiving medicine before.
Special sessions for nurses and experts will be held at the symposium.
