The People’s Majlis has decided to give a five-day period to those officials that are summoned to its committees for questioning.
Secretary General Fathmath Niusha revealed this at a press conference on Thursday.
She said that the decision to accord them a five-day period was reached at the weekly meeting held between members of its 17 committees and Speaker, former President Mohamed Nasheed; the purpose of these meeting is to discuss the various issues faced in conducting committee work.
Niusha added that the reason for this is “to give time for the officials to prepare.”
Hence, government officials cannot be presented to parliament committees without giving this five-day notice.
Niusha also revealed the various officials to be summoned to committees next week.
