Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that the previous administration had initiated numerous projects nearing last year’s presidential elections.
After being presented to the parliament’s state-owned enterprises committee on Tuesday, MTCC senior officials said that the projects were at a standstill during the government transition.
These include projects in GA Villingili, AA Rasdhoo, AA Himendhoo, and S Maradhoo.
The officials said that MTCC received projects in B Fehendhoo and V Keyodhoo near the elections and that they had been unable to conduct environmental impact assessments or design work.
They said that they ended some projects due to public due to the disapproval of locals and that they are working with the planning ministry to make the desired changes.
