Speaker requests committee to set end of session

Speaker Mohamed Nasheed has requested the regulations committee to set the end of the current session.

The committee is currently working on amending the parliament regulations and setting the schedule for sittings and recess.

At Tuesday’s sitting, Speaker Nasheed requested the committee to regularly send their amendments to the floor without attempting to send it all at once, and to fast-track the amendment on the end of the current session.

Regulations committee member and Hanimaadhoo MP Abdul Ghafoor Moosa said that the committee has set the end of the parliament session for August 31 and the next session to begin on October 1 and end on November 28, and the recess to last from December to January.
