Ex-Madaveli MP Muaz being investigated for corruption

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has begun investigating former Madaveli MP Muaz Mohamed Rasheed for corruption.
The case is regarding Muaz buying an apartment from the ‘Renaatus Ithaa muiy’ apartment complex in Hulhumale’ in 2018.
The case was filed by Maldives Monetary Authority’s Financial Intelligence Unit after it encountered a suspicious online financial transaction via Bank of Maldives.
RaajjeMV understands that MVR 340,000 was transferred to Muaz’s account, which he transferred to the apartment complex’s company to pay the down payment.
Muaz has been summoned and questioned by ACC. Both ACC and Muaz refused to provide details, as the investigation is still ongoing.
Muaz was elected to the Madaveli seat in the previous parliament as an independent. He later joined Jumhooree Party and then Progressive Party of Maldives and stayed with the party until the end of his term.
